Questions people ask

Can I crop as well as resize?

Yes, in the same box. Pull its corners or draw a new one on the photo, or pick a shape like 4:5, 16:9 or a circle. The size fields then set how many pixels the crop is saved at.

Will resizing lower the quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp; the browser resamples with a smooth filter. Making it larger than the original can't add detail, so it will look soft. The tool says so when the size asked for is bigger than the crop.

What does "Keep the whole photo" do?

It puts the whole photo inside the shape instead of cutting it to fit, with the space around it filled by a blurred copy of the photo, a colour, or left clear. Instagram's 4:5 from a landscape photo, for instance, with nothing cut off.

Which sizes do the platforms want?

Instagram feed 1080 by 1350 or 1080 by 1080, Stories and Reels covers 1080 by 1920, YouTube thumbnails 1280 by 720, X header 1500 by 500, LinkedIn banner 1584 by 396, profile photos 400 by 400 or larger. The platform sizes carry these.

Can I resize several images at once?

One photo at a time, so you can check the box before you download. Drop the next one onto the stage when the first is done.

Which formats work?

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF (first frame), BMP and SVG in. JPG, PNG or WebP out, or the same format as the original.
