Why people pick this one

Many online screen recorders stop after a few minutes, stamp a watermark or upload the recording to finish it. It records straight to a file as you go, so it is unlimited and free.

While you record
A floating stop button that stays on top of whatever you are recording, a countdown, pause and resume, and a timer.
Runs
In your browser.
Limits
No time limit and no cap on how many recordings.
Price
Free. No account, no watermark.

How to record your screen

  1. Choose what to record. Screen, screen with your camera in a corner, or the camera alone. Tick the microphone, and the computer's sound for a call, a game or a video.
  2. Press Start and pick the screen, window or tab. Tick Share audio in that window if you want the computer's sound. A three-second countdown gives you time to switch over.
  3. Stop when you are done. Use the floating stop button, the Stop button here or the browser's own Stop sharing bar. The MP4 is ready right away: play it, then download it.

What each choice does

Screen, window or tab
A tab records only that page and its sound, the cleanest way to record a video call or a web app. A window follows one program wherever you move it. The whole screen catches everything, including notifications, so turn those off first.
Microphone and computer sound
The microphone is your voice, cleaned of echo and background noise. Computer sound is what you hear: a tab's sound records anywhere, the whole computer's sound on Windows and ChromeOS, and on a Mac with a current Chrome or Edge on macOS 14.2 or newer. With both ticked they are mixed into one track.
Camera bubble
A round window with your camera in the corner you choose, small, medium or large. It is drawn into the video itself, so it plays everywhere without a special player.
Size and frame rate
Up to 1080p suits tutorials and demos and keeps files small. Full size keeps every pixel of a high-resolution display. 60 frames a second is for games and fast motion and roughly doubles the file.
Pause
Skips the part you do not want and picks up again without a cut in the file.
Floating stop button
A small window that stays on top of whatever you record, with the timer, Pause and Stop, and your camera when it is on. In Chrome and Edge.

Good to know

  • If the tab closes by mistake in the middle, come back: the unfinished recording is still here to finish and download.
  • Download it when you are done, or record again. Nothing is kept anywhere else.

Questions people ask

Is there a time limit?

No. Record for as long as you need; a two-hour recording is fine. Free space on the device is the only limit.

Does it record with audio?

Yes. The microphone, the sound of the tab or computer, or both mixed together. Tick Share audio in the window where you pick what to record; that is where the browser asks.

Can I record my screen and webcam at the same time?

Yes. Choose Screen + camera, pick the corner and the size, and your camera is drawn into the recording as a round bubble. Camera only records just you.

Is there a watermark?

No. The MP4 is yours, with nothing added, and it does not need an account.

What format do I get?

A standard MP4 that opens in editors, on phones and anywhere a video plays. An older browser without the newer video features saves a WebM instead, which every browser plays; the WebM to MP4 tool converts it.

How big is the file?

About 35 MB a minute at 1080p and 30 frames a second when the screen is busy, often far less for a slide deck or a document that mostly sits still. 60 frames a second roughly doubles it. Compress video makes any recording smaller afterwards.

Does it work on a phone?

Recording the screen needs a computer; phones do not let a web page capture the screen. On an iPhone, open Control Center and tap the record button; on Android, pull down Quick Settings and tap Screen record. The camera recorder here works on a phone.

Which browsers work?

Chrome and Edge on Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS have everything, including the camera bubble and the floating stop button. Safari and Firefox record the screen and the microphone too.

Can I use it instead of Loom or a desktop app?

For a recording you download, yes: screen plus a camera bubble, your microphone, no time limit and no watermark, with nothing to install. There is no hosting or share link here; the MP4 is yours to upload wherever you like.

What if the tab closes while I am recording?

The recording is saved as it goes, so what was recorded is still there. Open the page again and it offers to finish the file and hand it to you.
