Quality
This browser saves a WebM. It plays in every browser; for an MP4, run it through WebM to MP4.
Next: trim the start and end, make it smaller, turn a moment into a GIF or keep just the sound.

How to record a Google Meet call
- Open the recorder next to the call. Microphone and system sound are already switched on.
- Press record and pick the Meet tab. Choose the browser tab the call runs in and tick "share tab audio" in the browser's dialog; that is how the other voices get into the recording.
- Stop when the call ends. The MP4 is in your downloads a second later. Drop it on the Transcribe tool for notes.
What to know
- Meet's own recording
- Google only records on paid Workspace plans and only for the host. This records on any account from any seat.
- Tab, not screen
- Pick the Meet tab rather than the whole screen and the browser carries the call's sound with it. On Windows a shared screen can carry sound too; on a Mac the tab is the way.
- Tell the others
- In many places a call may only be recorded with the participants' knowledge. Say so at the start.
Questions people ask
Do I need to be the host?
No. Anyone in the call can record their own view of it.
Will the other people's voices be in the recording?
Yes, when you share the Meet tab with its audio. Your own voice comes from the microphone.
Does Google tell the others?
No. This is a recording of your own screen; Meet does not see it. Tell the others yourself.
How long can I record?
There is no time limit. A long call becomes one MP4.
