How to beautify a screenshot

  1. Drop or paste the screenshot. PNG, JPG or WebP. Ctrl+V or Cmd+V works right on this page.
  2. Pick the look. A gradient or solid background, padding, corner radius, shadow, and a Mac, browser or phone frame if you want one. Choose a canvas ratio for the platform.
  3. Download or copy. PNG or JPG at 1x or 2x, or copy the image and paste it straight into a post.

What makes a screenshot look designed

Padding
6 to 10 percent on all sides. Enough background to frame the image, not so much that the screenshot shrinks in a feed.
One gradient
Two or three colors in one direction. Pick a palette that matches the app, or Mono for a neutral look on a busy screenshot.
Shadow and radius
A soft shadow lifts the image off the background. Radius 12 to 20 pixels reads as a card; 0 keeps a raw, technical look.
Frames
The Mac and browser bars say "this is a real app". Use them for product screenshots and skip them for charts, quotes or chat messages.
Ratio
Auto hugs the image. Square or 4:5 for Instagram and LinkedIn, 16:9 for X and blog headers, 9:16 for Stories.

Sizes for X, LinkedIn, Product Hunt and app stores

X
1600 by 900 (16:9) shows in full in the timeline. 4:5 also displays without a crop and takes more space.
LinkedIn
1200 by 627 for link posts, 1080 by 1350 (4:5) for image posts.
Product Hunt
Gallery images 1270 by 760 (about 5:3). Use 3:2 or 16:9 and export at 2x.
App Store and Google Play
Store screenshots must match the device sizes exactly, so use the Phone frame for marketing only and upload raw captures to the stores.
Blog and docs
16:9 at 2x for retina screens; compress the PNG afterwards with Compress image.

Questions people ask

How do I add a background to a screenshot?

Drop or paste the screenshot, then pick one of the gradient swatches or a solid color. Padding sets how much background shows around the image. The result downloads as a PNG or JPG with the background baked in.

How do I make screenshots look professional?

Four things do most of the work: even padding, one gradient instead of a busy image, a soft shadow so the screenshot lifts off the background, and rounded corners around 12 to 20 pixels. Add the Mac or browser frame only for product shots.

Can the background be transparent?

Yes. Choose Transparent and export as PNG. You keep the rounded corners, shadow and frame over a transparent canvas, ready to drop onto a slide or a page.

What resolution does it export?

At 1x the screenshot keeps its own pixels and the background is drawn around it. 2x doubles everything, which keeps the image crisp on retina displays and after platforms compress it. A 1440 wide screenshot with 8 percent padding at 2x is about 3300 pixels wide.

Does it work with phone screenshots?

Yes. A portrait screenshot unlocks the Phone frame, a plain dark bezel with rounded corners. The Story 9:16 and Portrait 4:5 canvas ratios fit phone shots well.

Can I paste instead of uploading?

Yes. Take a screenshot, come to this page, and press Ctrl+V or Cmd+V. It lands on the canvas immediately.

Is it free?

Yes, with no watermark, no account and no limit on the number of screenshots.
